With increasing demands on corporate sustainability reporting and the recently adopted EU CSRD Directive, which focuses on increasing the transparency and comparability of corporate reporting on sustainability performance, companies are faced with the need to further strengthen their commitment to responsible corporate behavior and sustainability initiatives.

By taking responsibility and enabling sustainable transport options, you are ready to meet some of the new legal requirements and receive, based on your choice of carrier, a summary with relevant information on your environmental impact including CO2.

To visualize your sustainability work, the summary can be published on freight documents, invoices and integrated and published on your internal portals and your website to invoke a transparent sustainability work.

The need that was the basis for the development

Environmental thinking is increasingly taking place in the transport industry and companies want to profile themselves as environmentally conscious and reduce their negative environmental footprint as much as possible.

The challenge today is that companies often make reactive decisions, as the information only becomes available after the transport has been completed. We want to change this and empower companies to act proactively.

Technologies and algorithms to identify transportation options

Today, transportation choices are mainly based on price and delivery time. With our new initiative, environmental data will be introduced as a new dimension, where you can choose transportation with consideration for the environment.

There will be different parameters within the additional function that you can measure or manage, which are based on the weight, distance, mode of transport and vehicle type used by the carrier. The options are then presented considering their ability to carry out the transport with a minimum environmental impact as possible.

Partnerships that promote sustainable transport options

This new feature has been developed in collaboration with Björn Arwedahl at Roxtec International AB, who shares our view on the importance of sustainable work and wants to minimize his environmental impact while visualizing the results of the environmental work in different ways. Another long-term partner, who is responsible for the cost calculations and freight agreements, is involved in the project and wants to take the next step forward in sustainability.

This development is a natural and positive consequence of current functionality for sustainable transport options.

Easy implementation of the additional functionality

For companies that already have TIS Logistics transportation module, the installation is easy. Alternatively, you can get the freight price calculation through PipeChain, and with it the new function is also installed. Your existing transportation contracts are needed to make them available through PipeChain’s basic application TIS Logistics.
