Towards sustainable supply chains together with Roxtec International

After recently sharing an article about our new eco-conscious feature in collaboration with Roxtec International AB, this is a follow-up article where we delve into the ongoing collaboration and progress through conversations with Björn Arwedahl, Global Transportation Manager at Roxtec International.

Roxtec International AB: An environmentally conscious company

Roxtec International is a Swedish company founded in 1990 by Mikael Blomqvist. By developing a solution to improve the ability to seal openings for cables and pipes, the company has experienced significant growth from being a garage company to becoming a global market leader. Roxtec International AB is today owned by Mellby Gård and has almost 30 subsidiaries worldwide. The company delivers complete sealing solutions for various applications in different industries and their safety products are used on land, at sea and underground.

Roxtec’s needs and the choice of PipeChain

The collaboration began in 2017 when Roxtec International was looking for a solution for its transport and customs administration. With few companies on the market that offer solutions to both transportation and customs, the choice finally landed on PipeChain (formerly Tyringe Konsult) and TIS Logistics. Björn describes the initial collaboration as a good match, and the cooperation has continued to be excellent.

Roxtec initiatives to reduce emissions

Roxtec International is committed to environmental issues, and reducing their carbon footprint is high on their agenda. They already have initiatives to transport goods in a sustainable way and are looking forward to the new additional feature that will promote environmentally friendly transportation options. Among other things, the company uses sustainable marine fuels to reduce emissions and compensates for transport emissions through tree planting.

As mentioned earlier, they have a vision for the future in the area of sustainability and plan to install charging points for electric trucks at their new warehouse. This enables charging while the trucks are waiting to be loaded or unloaded and could be an incentive for other companies to follow suit to promote sustainable transportation.

Björn highlights that sustainable work has become important no matter where you live in the world, which he finds very positive.

PipeChain’s TIS application and the new add-on feature

The Libello system connected to PipeChain’s application TIS enables an increased variety of transport choices depending on price, time and now also the climate impact.

Roxtec International currently offers a palette of different transportation options (car, sea, train, air, courier) and they always strive to promote as sustainable transportation options as possible, which the new additional feature enables.

Through different kinds of transport documents and customizable information, the new add-on feature also supports Roxtec International’s customers to actively contribute to a more sustainable future and to share their compilation in a credible and transparent way. It can also help to fulfill legal requirements or include information in annual reports to show a reduced carbon footprint.

Finally, Roxtec International is looking forward to the new feature, which will soon be completed and ready to be explored and welcomes an independent environmental calculation that ensures that all transport options are assessed in the same way.

The new feature provides greater control over emissions of hazardous substances and more transport choices to consider when delivering goods, as well as giving companies the opportunity to be proactive and take control of their carbon footprint earlier in the value chain.
